Hey I’m Dylan, a Product Designer with over 15 years experience, currently looking for my next role ✌️
The Philosophy
I believe that great design is a business’s strongest competitive advantage. My approach is rooted in empathy and the belief that even the most technical interface should feel like a natural conversation. I’m passionate about removing the friction from digital daily life, replacing it with intuitive moments that feel effortless. I design for the human on the other side of the glass, ensuring every click feels intentional and every journey feels supported.
The Journey
My path started in graphic and web design , but everything clicked in 2014 when I took a UX course with Coleman Walsh. His passion was infectious and it completely reshaped how I view design—shifting my focus from just "making things look good" to solving real human problems.
Over the last 15 years, I’ve dedicated myself to building customer-focused interfaces backed by data. Most recently, I completed a Professional Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and I am continually leveraging AI (GPT, Gemini, Figma Make, NotebookLM, Photoshop) in my workflows to work smarter and create more personalised user experiences.
The Approach
In a team setting, I’m a big believer in active listening. I see every project as a collaborative tapestry; diverse perspectives are the threads that make the final solution stronger. As a Lead, I thrive on facilitating those conversations and ensuring that the "magic" of design happens through shared ideas and collective problem-solving.
Beyond the Pixels
I’m a firm believer that great design happens when people actually enjoy working together. During my 8+ years at Avid, I took that literally by founding and running our "Social Club."
This was our logo ☝️😁
I wanted to create a space where the team could step away from the screens and actually get to know each other, especially the folks who didn't cross paths in their daily stand-ups. This led to some pretty adventurous team days, from kayaking and zip-lining to VR sessions and the occasional afternoon of axe throwing or foot-golf ⚽.
The goal was simple: foster a culture where everyone feels included. I’ve found that when you know the person behind the Slack avatar, communication becomes easier and collaboration gets a lot smoother. It was a proud moment for me when the Social Club became such a staple of our office culture that the company started using it as a highlight to help bring new talent on board.
